Diane has been an avid participant in athletic activities all her life - hiker, climber, cyclist, sailor, student of yoga. Years after finishing her PhD and traveling to work around the world, she became interested in exercise pathways to improving physical performance and healing from injuries. Originally coming to the Institute as a participant in a clinical research trial, Diane was impressed with the understanding imparted by the scientific, body-mechanical approach of Restorative Exercise.
Restorative Exercise is not just exercise it is education. It explains what doctors, therapists, coaches, and trainers fail to explain how to walk, sit, and move all the time, to maximize your body's balance of musculature, and minimize wear and tear.
As a naturalist at Channel Islands National Park, Diane is personally familiar with the challenges of vigorous walking and how to prevent injury or heal from too much of a good thing. As a college educator, she knows first-hand the physical challenges presented by deskwork, computers, and too much sitting, and helps clients prevent and heal from injuries. Diane also has training as a Pelvic Fitness Instructor a Restorative Exercise specialty area of particular importance to women and men as we grow older - to maintain bone strength as well as healthy function of all the things our pelvises are good for!
With her experience teaching and communicating, Diane enjoys working with the full spectrum - from athletes to seniors, and senior athletes! Diane especially enjoys working one-on-one in private sessions. |
